Effect of Acupuncture at Um - Sohae ( H3 ) Locus on Plasma Levels of Stress - related Hormones in Men

Abstract
|

|
The present study was carried out to investigate the effect of acupuncture on plasma levels of stress-related hormones in men. They were needled at both sides U￣m-Sohae(H₃) locus, Blood samples were with drawn before acupuncture and 5, 10 and 20 min after acupuncture. Needling was started at 10:00 AM.
A significant decrease in plasma levels of catecholamine, in addition to a significant increase in plasma levels of β-endorphin were observed after acupuncture treatment, but plasma levels of cortisol were not prominently change.
